A student of art, technology, and the global community, Lydon received his early aesthetic, technical, and communicative training through a decade of designing, coding, and writing books for Silicon Valley technology firms. He has traveled throughout East Asia, Europe, and the U.S. both as a student and teacher, interacting with people, art, nature, and the urban space. In addition to sociecity, Lydon works with local and international artists on various projects to inform and further social change.

With over a decade of experience in the field of ecology and sociology topics, Suhee Kang serves as our superstar editor for the Asian market. Kang is also an accomplished photographer and traveler, her photo series “smiles” is a unique ongoing photo log of people throughout the world.
Public RelationsJoshua Alfaro
Joshua Alfaro has spent the last decade as both a creator of good ideas, and a promoter of other people’s good ideas. His background comprises a wild roller coaster ride spanning everything from restaurant start-ups to R&B music acts, and on top of it all, Josh finds the time to both perform and teach professionally as a Latin percussionist.
Columnist, LucilleidiCarla Vitantonio
Growing up in the middle of nowhere (Southern Italy), Carla Vitantonio has always been a performer. After completing her M.A. in International Relations at Bologna University, she moved to Seoul, South Korea, where she currently works at the Italian Institute of Culture. Previous career stints have included editor at Ubulibri and University of Bologna, as well as anchorwoman for various Italian local radio stations. Carla was awarded the prize for young writers “movimenti” in 2009 and has published articles and short-novels with Ubulibri, Vallardi, Carta, and Cicorivolta among others.

A quiet observer who see inspiration in watching people behave badly. Yeung’s perspective is often controversial, with an agenda to persuade the reconsideration of academic and cultural conventions. He was born in Hong Kong, lived in Pacific coast suburbs of San Jose for a decade then onto New York; among other things, he is an artist and contributor to Sociecity.
Contributor Sonya Poller
For the past 15 years, Sonya has been writing about and from a variety of international locales in North America, Europe and Asia, including serving as editor of CityVoices Magazine, covering stories on the Great East Japan earthquake, urban organic farming, ecology in Nepal, and disaster risk reduction. Sonya has variously worked in film, web, and print media, and her articles have spanned topics ranging from teens, to science, to travel. Most of all, however, Sonya enjoys interviewing seemingly ordinary people to uncover the unexpected.
Research Assistant Eri Mizushima
After earning her degree in Marine Biology from U.C. Santa Cruz, Eri completed various internships and research projects around the world, from Alaska, to Boston, to Antarctica, and several places in between. At Sociecity, Eri’s passion for helping others understand the world ecosystem meets with her skill in design as she works on everything from research projects to website CSS code.
Intern Chiaki Koyama
Chiaki is currently studying in the School of Art and Design at San Jose State University. Her skills in both visual and critical thinking give her the ability to create things as exciting as architectural and city planning illustrations or documentary videos, although she often has to suck it up and spend a day meta-tagging content.
